6 Million Tourists Around the World Have Visited Malang, Now It's Your Turn

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Based on the records of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Government (Disporapar) of Malang, the number of tourist visit to Malang was beyond expectations. At least until now, there have been around 6 million tourists traveled to the city.

It shows that Malang still has its charm. The city has successfully attracted domestic or foreign tourists to come and enjoy the area with its beauty. There were listed several iconic destinations from beaches to local waterfall.

"I have said that on July it was around 5.9 million (visitors) and as for now it has exceeded more than 6 millions tourist coming to the city," said Plt Disporapar Malang City, Ida Ayu Kusumadewi.

By the first quarter of 2022, the Disporapar of Malang has expecting only around 1.9 million tourists to travel to the city, either for domestic or foreign tourist.

Now, the target is far beyond what was expected. This is because a lower the tight regulation related to the late pandemic. The government has started to allow the local community back doing their normal activities like before.

The Malang City Government has also carried out several activities to attract tourists to Malang City. they have brought some cultural or art exhibition by involvinfg some locals MSMe especially in several thematic villages like Jodipan Village and Arema Village.

They even brought new destinations for the tourists to go such as Kayutangan Heritage. It's kind of some classic-style hangout spots especially at night where there were lots of group busking and entertaining the visitor with nice live music.

Ida Ayu said it was the season for tourists to travel to particular places, including Malang City, not to mention foreign tourists in July and August.

She also predicts that the number of tourist visits, especially worldwide, will increase in October 2022. Because October is a holiday season for foreign countries.

"So they (tourists) will take the time to come to the countries they have planned a year in advance, of course, Indonesia on the top of their itinerary list," she added.

Therefore, she also raised the standardization of the target of tourist visits in 2023. The target is the number of 6.5 million more tourists to go to Malang within a year. Ida Ayu also estimated that by next year the number of visitors coming to Malang will grow around 6.5 Million/year.
