Celebrate Indonesian Independence Day with Red and White Cookies
TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The Indonesian independence which will be celebrated by August 17, certainly will bring such a merrier party from carnival to ceremonial. You could also enjoy the party in live streaming by several local channel. And either it's streamed or on field Red and White Cookies will be a perfect snack to accompany this occasion.
This cookie is such a simple cookie to make, it is flattering and could be adjusted to your taste. So what about the recipe? Without any further do, let's check out according to Food Network.
2 glass all-purpose flour
1/2 glass malted milk powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
10 tbs unsalted butter (room temperature)
3/4 glass granulated sugar
2 large eggs (room temperature)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/3 glass sour cream
For the Icing:
2 3/4 glass confectioners' sugar
1/3 glass malted milk powder
2 tbs corn syrup
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
3 tbs hot water (adjustable)
food coloring red and white
1/2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Put the malted milk powder on a large bowl, add the baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix them evenly.
In another bowl put the sugar and butter with medium speed for 3 minutes. Add the egg one at a time, the vanilla, beat well with the mixer in high speed for 20 minutes.
Reduce the speed to low, add the flour a little by a little, add the sour cream, mix them all well with the low speed mixer.
Prepare your oven in 180o C. Prepare the pan and cover it with parchment paper. Drop two tablespoon of the dough on top of it. Give around2 centimeter range for each of the dough.
When your oven is ready, put them in and bake it for 16 to 18 minutes or till it turns golden brown. After it's done, let it cool on the pan for 5 minutes.
While waiting for the cookies to cool off, you can prepare the icing.
Mix all the ingredients for the icing. Mix it all evenly with a mixer in medium speed. Separate the icing in two. Put the white and red food coloring in each of the icing.
After the cookies cold off, spread the read and white icing half in half. Put the cookies in the refrigerator. And your red and white cookies is ready to be served.(*)
