Menag RI Yaqut Appointed as the Amirul Hajj for This Season

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The local government of Saudi Arabia has ordered all the countries included on hajj this season to pick one of their own people to be Amirul Hajj. And this season Indonesia appointed Menag RI Yaqut Cholil Qoumas for this duty.

For your information, amirul hajj literally means the leader for the pilgrims. Their duties including advising appropriate rules and regulation for performing Hajj, leading prayers, and overseeing grievances during the pilgrims' time in Saudi Arabia.

"The President himself has appointed me to be the Amirul Hajj for this year. Leading all the hajj delegation mission of Indonesia," Menag RI Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said at the Ministry of Religious Affair on Thursday (16/6/2022).

Still according to Yaqut he will be accompanied by three deputies, one secretary, and 8 members to help him completing his duties. Most of the companion were taken from the local community organization.

The amirul hajj along with the member will also have an obligation to monitor how was the way the hajj run. Whether will there be a defect, some slack or may be things that need to be fixed and reported it to the president for a better hajj season next year.

"We hope we could meet them in face, get some advice and critics from them, and surely building a good communication with all the pilgrims during this hajj season," Menag RI or The Mnister of Religios Affair Indonesia Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said.
