Easy Homemade Batagor Recipe ala Street Vendors

TIMESINDONESIA, BANDUNG – If you have ever tasted the exotic taste of batagor Bandung and found of it, there a simple way to make it on your own house. All you need is just to get all the ingredients at the local Chinese groceries and a little time to make it.  So, without any further do, let's check the recipe out.

Ingredients:

Dumpling wrapper (adjustable)
250 gr chicken breast (fillet)
Tofu (adjustable)
50 gr tapioca flour
7 cloves of shallot
5 cloves of garlic
100 gr chayote (grated) you may also substitute it with pumpkin
1 pcs egg (beat)
1 tsp ground pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chicken block
2 pcs leak (minced)
vegetable oil (adjustable)
Cucumber (minced, adjustable)
Soy sauce and tomato sauce  (adjustable)
Lettuce (minced)
 For the peanut sauce:

150 gr fried peanut
3 tbs brown sugar
5 cloves fried garlic
3 tbs fried shallot
3 pcs cayenne chili (sautéed for a minute)
3pcs candle nut (sautéed for a minute)
3 tbs solulable tamarind water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chicken block
500 ml water

Instructions:

Prepare your blender, chopper or food processor. Put the chicken, garlic, shallot, pepper, fish sauce, salt, chicken block all together. Process.
Set the dough into a bigger bowl, add the chayote and leak, mix it evenly.
Add the egg, tapioca flour, mix it more till it even. Set aside.
Take the dumpling wrapper, stuffed the wrapper with the dough. Seal it with any form of dumpling you like.
For the tofu, take a 2 x 2 cm tofu or as your taste and make a small cut right in the middle, stuff it with the dough.
Fried the dumpling and the tofu all together, if you think the size too bigger you could cut it with some scissors.
Top it off with lettuce and cucumber.
For the peanut sauce you could put all the ingredients together in food processor. Boil it for 15 minutes till its thickened. And you could dip your batagor Bandung in the sauce or just pour the sauce on top of it. (*)
