TIMESINDONESIA, PALEMBANG – Have you ever seen the biggest Quran ever written? It's located in a suburb area of Palembang. The local known this place as Wisata Al-Quran Al-Akbar. This place will make your jaw drop from its exotic view of the huge Quran.
Unlike what you think of, the Quran was carved on a huge wooden square with around 2 meter height and 1,5 meter wide. Located at Al Ihsaniyah Islamic Boarding School, Gandus, Palembang, South Sumatra, this place offers such beautiful view for those Arabic writing and wood carve lovers.
The whole Quran was carve and collected on the museum. Everyone could see it and even read it aloud if they could. The carving was stacked up to save some space. It was arranged as a building with several floors where the visitors could reach every floor easily and read the Quran.
This place will be filled with visitors during Islamic holidays such as Eid Al-Fitr or even during Ramadan. They mostly came for neighborhood city or even another province. Mostly they came here while on their way visiting their family in Palembang.
You could visit this biggest Quran in the country daily on work hours. The ticket will only cost you for IDR 20 K/pax. You could also get some food at the local cafeteria provided by the management which served some tasty local dishes of Palembang. (*)
