TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – If you willing to learn about the history of Malang from when those kingdom time, you just need to visit Museum Mpu Purwa. This museum will bring you back to the old kingdom time before the city become what it is now.
Loated at Jalan Soekarno Hatta, right at Perumahan Griya Santa Blok B No. 210, Mojolangu, Lowokwaru, Malang, this museum will give you a closer look to what happened in Malang back then. this museum cover up the Ken Arok and Ken Dedes story back then.
Ken Arok is known to be the king of Singhasari, while Ken Dedes was said s the most beautiful girl in the area back then. Both of them fell in love, yet they have to face some obstacle with the coming of Tunggul Ametung, a another rich aristocrat guy.
Ken Dedes is a daughter of local cultural leader named Mpu Purwa. One day Tunggul Ametung kidnapped Kendedes and that’s when all the story began the they have to meet in person and fight for Kendedes.
To make the story alive, Museum Mpu Purwa which situated on 1200 square meter area made a nice diorama to express the situation back then. Several inscription were also displayed in the museum.
Museum Mpu Purwa at least hass around 136 collection of inscription and artifacts from Kanjuruhan, old Mataram, kediri, Singhasari, to Majapahit. This museum could be visited for free and opens daily from 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Sunday to Thursday and close by 2.45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
