This Designer Took Ethnic Design for Her Batik Collection

TIMESINDONESIA, SURABAYA – Indonesia has been known to be  a place where hidden paradises laid. Not only beautiful places. This country also have the best wood that has been acknowledge by the world. including the ulin wood. For this reason, Lia Afif put the ulin into her design on her batik.

Ulin has been well known to be one of the best wood of East Kutai, East Kalimantan. This design has also been used by the local tribe as the ultimate design for their traditional costume. And Lia Afif would like to bring this design as one of her collection.

"I take the local government of East Kutai to collaboration with me in order to introduce the tourism potential as well introducing the local batik industry," Lia said.

At first the design was created by the local community in East Kutai. The design was applied and use on batik. This ethnic design has attracted Lia to put it as one of her collection.

The design dominate with brown and light brown to nude. The ulin design was crafted on lace, chiffon, and cotton. Lia Commit to bring her design to the world. She will start by introducing the ulin batik on Indonesian Fashion Week 2022 on April. (*)
