Archipelago Food Festival to Bring Hopes of Tourism Economic Recovery

TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGIArchipelago Food Festival at ASTON Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center had been officially launched by the Vice Regent of Banyuwangi, H. Sugirah. In his opening speech, Sugirah showed his appreciation towards ASTON Hotel’s effort to start the post-Covid-19 economic recovery by organizing a food festival.

“I hope this festival can be a fresh start for economic growth in Banyuwangi. This is one of the best efforts to recover the economic growth after Covid-19,” said Sugirah in his speech.  The partner of the Regent, Ipuk Fiestiandani Azwar Anas, also expressed her gratitude towards ASTON Hotel and International Archipelago for enlivening the 250th provincial anniversaries.

A strict safety and health protocols will be always implemented during this event. The General Manager of ASTON Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center, Catur Rahmadi, said that this event is a form of a love expression to Banyuwangi.

“We are collaborating with the corporates and making a proposal to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to make it as an annual event. In addition, we also want to introduce the traditional foods of Banyuwangi to the society,” said Catur.

The Vice President of Operations Archipelago International, Winston Hanes, said that Archipelago Food Festival is a monthly roadshow in several cities in Indonesia that will be taking place from 2021 to 2022.

“Archipelago International supports the economic recovery of hotel industry. Besides, we also want to introduce the culinary of Banyuwangi made by the professional Executive Chefs from Archipelago’s hotels,” said Winston through the virtual meeting.

The main reason why ASTON Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Centerwas chosen as the host of Archipelago Food Festival is that the event coincides with the 250th provincial anniversary of Banyuwangi.

In this event, six Executive Chefs from several hotels in Bali and Banyuwangi were invited to be challenged with making foods that match the theme of the event, ‘Explore the Authentic Banyuwangi Cuisines’.

A wide variety of traditional foods of Banyuwangi were served in this event. Besides, Balinese culinary were also be served. There were round 14 food stalls that  served various foods and beverages in Archipelago Food Festival, such as Ayam Betutu, satay, soto, coffee corners and grilled seafood. (*)
