Ancol Tourist Area Set as the New Race Location of Formula E 2022

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The Chief Executive of Jakarta E-Prix 2022, Ahmad Sahroni recently mentioned the Ancol tourist area as the race location of Formula E 2022. Sahroni said that the decision was made because the place has a dynamic characteristic, is iconic in Jakarta, and will not disturb the main street infrastructures.

“Through a long study with the officers from Formula E Operations (FEO) as the representative from Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Ancol is chosen as a suitable racetrack,” said Sahroni in Jakarta, Wednesday (22/12/2021).

“By using Ancol as a racetrack for Formula E race, the committees don’t need to build a new circuit. Unlike the F1 or MotoGP, Formula E doesn’t need such a special track like the Mandalika circuit,” he said.

Sahroni explained that Formula E is a race on a highway which design and conditions are set by thy Formula E Operations (FEO) and Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) standards.

Sahroni also mentioned that the Formula E event will not use the regional budget of Jakarta. Instead, they raise domestic and foreign sponsors.

“With such big event as Formula E race, we raise domestic and foreign sponsors because this is an international event and many famous brands and names will participate in such a good opportunity,” said Ahmad Sahroni.
