Get an Authentic Taste of Ijen Coffee with Kopi Kemiren
TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGI – Kopi Kemiren has been well known by the local community of Mount Ijen with its nice authentic local taste. Lots of them has chosen this coffee to be served on their table. One of the mmost famous variant is the Jaran Goyang.
For the local, jaran goyang was a name of famous ancient charm that will make someone deeply falling in love to the one who spell it. "We would like them to fall in love to this coffee once they taste it. That's why we name it Jaran Goyang," Mastuki,the founder of Kopi Kemiren Jaran Goyang said.
Matsuki explained that he got the grains from the local farmer of Ijen. He also uses the conventional way of roasting the coffee. He said that the technique has made people fallen in love to is coffee more. He uses conventional clay stove and clay pot to roast the coffee. According to him, the clay and the roasting made the coffee has such distinctive nice aromatic smell.
Matsuki has two kinds of coffee, Robusta and Arabica. Both were prepared in the same way and technique. Sometimes, some people will visit his workshop to see him working. Matsuki will welcome everyone not just to taste the coffee but also share some of his knowledge in roasting.
You could find Kopi Kemiren workshop at Dusun. Krajan RT.01 RW.02 Kemiren, Glagah, Banyuwangi. Each of them will be packed in 125 grams and could be enjoyed for IDR 40-45 K /pax.
