TIMESINDONESIA, YOGYAKARTA – The jolly Christmas holiday is coming hot, and Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta held the Cake Mixing Ceremony to welcome this happiest moment of the year. As the first hotel to organize the Cake Mixing Ceremony, Sheraton Mustika aims to conserve and reintroduce this ancient Christmas tradition, especially in the Yogyakarta region.
Formerly, the Cake Mixing Ceremony was held as a sign of the start of the Christmas celebration. People come together to mix various nuts and fruits that will be fermented and used as ingredients to make a Christmas cake.
"Cake Mixing Ceremony in Sheraton Yogyakarta is a part of an ancient Christmas tradition that mixes ingredients for a cake to spread love and compassion with a jolly spirit of Christmas," said Harry Suryadharma, the General Manager of Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort and Spa, Sunday (21/11/2021).
Harry also explained that this symbolic tradition was held to prepare a Christmas cake with dried fruits such as raisins, plums, dates, dried oranges, dried currants, and berries. Next, they put various nuts and rum into the mixture. They can also pour in fresh juice, honey, and various spices to enrich the taste of the cake.
