Attention! Bromo will be Closed Temporarily During Christmas and New Year
TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Some people has planned their trip may be 3 months in advance just to make sure everything is set and prepared. However, there are always some unexpected situation that will ruin everything. Just like this uncertain condition of pandemic that force the Balai Besar Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS) closed Bromo for this occasion.
Novita Kusuma Wardani, The Manager in Act of TNBTS said that the spike of Covid-19 that raise the level of activity restriction to level 3 has forced her and the management to decided so. "Level 3 restriction was applied to Probolinggo, Lumajang and Pasuruan (where the mountains lies), so we stick to their rule to not open some tourist destination for public," she said on Thursday (18/11/2021).
She emphasized that all four gates to Bromo will be fully closed for visitors. Those gates are the one at Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Malang, and Lumajang. "Up for now, there were only the gate from Malang that still being opened for the visitors for the city were on level 2," she added.
Bromo has gone through the lowest surge of visitors since the pandemic struck the country. In 2018 there were around 825.206 tourists visiting this magnificent mountain. Around 800.130 were domestic tourist and the rest are foreign one.
Meanwhile, in 2019 the number of visitors goes down to 721.082. Around 699.021 are the locals and the rest are foreign tourists. And in 2020 when the pandemic spikes, it went through the worse with only 196.268 visitors with 193.733 from domestic arrival and the around 2.658 were foreign tourists.
Despite of the low surge of visitor, Balai Besar Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS) will stay on their decision to close down the enchanting place during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holiday. Well, seems like you need to rewrite your itinerary list on those days. (*)
