Enjoying Empal Gentong Grilled Oxtail and the Fresh Air in Tirta Sanita Resort Kuningan

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Tirta Sanita Resort Kuningan in West Java strives to preserve Indonesian traditional culinary which is widely known for its delicious taste and numerous varieties. One of those traditional cuisines is the famous empal gentong grilled oxtail.

As an innovation result from the executive chef from Tirta Sanita, Chef Bayu Topandas successfully created a new cuisine inspired by the traditional empal gentong from Cirebon.

“This menu is a collaboration result of grilled oxtail with empal gentong sauce which has a rich taste and luxurious sensation,” said Chef Bayu.

He also explained that empal gentong is not a new cuisine for the majority of locals in Cirebon.

“It is similar to gulai, however, it is cooked using firewood inside a large barrel. It also has additional ingredients of cow intestines, tripe, and meat,” he said.

Bayu also mentioned that it had been a great opportunity to successfully serve an improved version of a famous traditional cuisine. Besides, this menu is also the favorite of the majority of locals from West Java, especially the Cirebon region.

“The appearance of empal gentong grilled oxtail is exceptionally mouthwatering. Served together with warm rice, fried tempe, and melinjo chips, this menu is such a perfect treat for everyone,” said Bayu.

According to Bayu, this traditional cuisine is the pride of his birthplace. This cuisine had already been passed down from generation to generation and served by families for years.
