4 Easy Tricks on How to Repel Mice

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Mice is somehow a frustrating things to have in your house. Their smell, their feces, and their voice could bring some mental health issue to you. Furthermore, they often cause damage by chewing on wires, books, and toys, or getting into cupboards and spoiling food.

1. A cat

You could consider to get a cat if no one in your family has a cat allergy. Cat usually will be a good option for they will catch them for their toy. Mostly they will just play with it till it's dead.

2. Essential oils

The strong smell of peppermint oil and clove oil seems to repel mice. Saturate cotton balls with these essential oils and put them in areas that attract mice like drawers, cupboards, and home entryways. You could also bleach some area where they used to pass by. The strong smell of bleach will make them get away.

3. Traps

There are several kind of trap you could use to catch them. You could take the humane traps to keep mice alive so you can release them. Place traps in the areas of your home most frequented by mice and check them every morning.

Poison baits may seem like an easy solution, but they can also be risky. Poison can sicken pets and children in your home, so it’s safer to stick with nonpoisonous baits and treatments. Place some cheese or buttered popcorn to attract them.

4. Make your own trap

You could also build your own humane traps by using kitchen tools such as bucket, stick, and plastic cup. Skewer the cup with the stick and lay the stick-and-cup contraption across the open top of the bucket.

Put buttered popcorn on the cup as bait. The mice will come after it and then fall into the bucket. Don't forget to release them and dot use bare hand to touch them. This will help you repel the mice and make your house safe and clean. (*)
