Have the Local Taste of Fried Chicken at Warung Mak Yar Ngawi

TIMESINDONESIA, NGAWI – Other than beef or pork, chicken has become one favorite dishes for Indonesian. The local community has thousands way to cook it. Including what apical food shop named Warung Mak Yar at Ngawi did. This food shop served fried chicken with an authentic local taste.

Located at Dumplengan, Pitu, Ngawi, East Java, this food shop has become one favorite place to go by the local community especially at lunch. During lunch time, there will be lots of people line up for their special dish.

Those people line up and come back for more for the chicken taste. Before it was fried, the chicken will be boiled with local herbs and spices for several hours to make it soft and tender even after its being fried.

They used free range chicken other than those chicken raised in the farm. Thise chicken is less fatty and has nice savory taste from the herbs and spices athrough the bone.

"This shop was opened in 1988. At first, we could only spend one chicken in a day. But now, we could spend around 50 to 60 chickens in a day,"  Mak Yar, the owner of Warung Mak Yar said on Saturday (10/04/21).

For a set of fried chicken you will get the a basket of rice, one whole fried chicken, raw veggies or lalapan, sambal terasi (spicy shrimp sauce)  or sambal orek tempe (tempehwith spicy garlicky sauce). You could also have some urap or steamed veggies with grated coconut and aromatic ginger.

Warung Mak Yar Ngawi is opened daily at from 07.00 to 14.00 local western time. It will close later than the ordinary time on day off or weekend. This humble food shop has become one place that becomes the favorite not only for the peasant but those high class society.  (*)
