What Do You Think of These Recycled Vase Made of Unused Clothes?
TIMESINDONESIA, LAMONGAN – Alfa Learning Space Community of Lamongan recycled unused clothes and turns them into more valuable items such as vase. This activity was hold to commemorate the The Indonesian National Waste Care Day (HPSN).
This activity was also aimed to reduce the number of waste occurred around the area. The community collects the waste especially unused clothes they found form their house or the neighborhood.
"We take the local communities to turn those insured clothes into beautiful planter or vase in any different shape and size," M. Saunan Al Faruq, the manager in charge of the activity said on Tuesday (23/2/2021).
In order to create the planter, they prepared some bucket for the model. They also get some cement, laddle, wooden stick, a little bit of water, and the unused clothes.
“Cut the clothes according to the size you need. In a bucket, make a solution of cement and water. Dip the clothes in it throughly, hang it on the top of another bucket till dry," Saunan explained.
After all done, while waiting for the vase to dry, the community told a little discussion about environmental issues, some literature, and some of their experience they had in school.
After it dry, they coat the planter with another cement. It was to make the vase sturdy than before. They then paint the vase with any color they like.
