What Does UIN Malang Said about Injectable Skin Lightening?
TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – Injecting some drug to lighten the skin especially by woman. Yhey took an extreme way just to get a fairer skin. However, dr. Prida Ayudianti, SpKK, a lecturer for genital and dermatology major of Medical Faculty of UIN Malang has an opinion about this.
"There hasn't been any further study about this issue. Up until.now, the FDA has not approved any injectable drugs for skin whitening or lightening," Prida said on Wednesday (10/2/2021).
Prida which also becomes a dermatologist at Hermina Hospital Malang also revealed what is in the injection. "Commonly it consists of ascorvic acid and glutathione," she added.
According to her, ascorbic acid rich in vitamin C whereas glutathione is known to be the best source of antioxidants. These two will prevent the hyperpigmentation on the skin and gives anti aging effect.
All those are good, but people need to consider the impact to our body. In addition, we dont know for sure what's in it and how it's made.
Beyond the potential harm from the product itself, improper or unsafe injection practices may transmit disease, cause infection, and result in serious injury.
A long term uses of high dose of vitamin C will also harm the kidney. especially for those who have kidney failure or treatment before it, this kind of treatment will surely threatening their life.
"Beware of those over claimed products. Raise your awareness and be selective towards every product. Find out the bad and good side before making the decision on one product," this lecturer of UIN Malang said. (*)
