UIN Malang Revealed Whats in Covid-19 Vaccine
TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – A lecturer of Medical School of UIN Malang apt. Hajar Sugihantoro, M.P.H revealed what's Sinovac Vaccine was made of. Sinovac is Covid-19 vaccine that's used by Indonesia to strengthen the immune of the society.
Sinovac us inactivated vaccine. It works by using killed viral particles to expose the body's immune system to the virus without risking a serious disease response.
"The vaccine consists of inactivated living organism which the safety and stability theoretically is still being questioned," apt. Hajar Sugihantoro, M.P.H said on Saturday (6/2/2021).
However, he underlined that the benefit given by the vaccine is bigger than the feasibility of the risk."Generally, it's made of antigen, preservative, stabilizer, adjuvant, and sometimes antibiotic," he added.
He also explained that the antigen was taken from the structure of the Covid-19 virus. Meanwhile the adjuvant was added to stimulate, raise and extend the specific response towards the antigen.
The preservative was used to prevent the vaccine being contaminated by mold or other bacteria before its being used. The stabilizer was used to maintain the stability of the vaccine during storage, distribution and immunization process.
Sometimes antibiotics were added to prevent the occurrence of bacteria during cell culture. "Its not a drug. The vaccine stimulates your body to produce antibodies for the virus without risking a serious disease response," this lecturer of Medical School of UIN Malang ended. (*)
