TIMESINDONESIA, SUMENEP – Mohammad Ruslan, a guy who lives in Kayu Aro, Kangayan, Kangean, Sumenep, East Java has been blessed with astonishing skill of creating boat or ship miniatures. You wouldn’t even know that all those beautiful arts was made of a special need guy.
Yes, Ruslan lost his hand on an accident he got in 2007. His right hand was paralyzed and couldn’t be used since then. He now relies on his left hand to do all activity he has.
Ruslan made the miniature of the plywood. He uses the help of Stanley knife to finish all his work. He could finish a hug cruise ship miniature in 15-30 days. Meanwhile for the smaller one he could finish it in not more than 2 weeks.
Ruslan also work as a farmer to support his family. But he relies on his miniature sale better than the work on the farm. “I do everything to support my family, but I rely on this miniature most,” this 43 year old guy said.
Ruslan will charge his customers from IDR 500 K to IDR 3 M depends on the size and complexity of the miniature he made.
His good work was appreciated by all of his customers including the government. It even took the local police department of Kanganan’s attention.
“We will help him to distribute his miniatures. The Police will always be here to help the local community,” The Chief of local Police Department of Kanganan Ipda Miftahol Rahman said.
Ruslan’s courage and determination has hooked their heart to help him distributing the ship miniatures. However, without a good skill and quality this guy with special needs wouldn’t go far to this stage. (*)
