Bali Safari Park Welcomes Dozens of Hatchling to Their Zoo

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Bali Safari Park welcomes around 22 new member of hatchling to their zoo.  These hatchling hatches on January 2020. They were carried by Sinyulong crocodile mother which has been living in the zoo for several years.

Sinyulong or false gharial (Tomistoma schlegelii) is a freshwater crocodilian which native to Peninsular Malaysia, borneo, Sumatra, and Java. This crocodile has been listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. Up until now, it’s estimated that there are only 5000-10.000 population left in the world.

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Alue Dohong which happened to visit he zoo got an honor to name one of them. “I hereby named him Aldo Crocodilus, just like my son’s name,” the Deputy said during his visit.

The Director of Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) Group, Jansen Manansang feeling so happy that the Deputy Minister of Environment willing to name of the hatchling. “It was such a priceless reward for our effort in conserving this Sinyulong crocodile,” he said.

Bali Safari Park has put a bigger concern toward the animal’s conservation since it was firstly built. “The visitors have given so much support by visiting our zoo,” Willem Manansang, Deputy Director Taman Safari Indonesia Group which happened to accompanies the guests that time.  

The hatchlings were taken care by the team of Bali Safari Park. They were put in a huge wooden box with UV-B light in it at 28-33 degrees Celsius. Fish and crickets were their main diet. (*)
