Virtual Heritage Tour, A New Mission to Enliven Indonesian Tourism

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf RI) is supporting a new virtual tourism “Traval Virtual Heritage” held from 26 September to 25 October 2020.

The Deputy of Tourism Product and Event Organizer of Kemenparekraf RI, Rizki Handayani, stated that during this pandemic, creative economy industries and tourism business owners should keep up with the technological advances. Therefore, Kemenparekraf is highly appreciating and supporting this virtual tourism as an effort to enliven the culture-and-community based tourism.

 “We really support the event of Virtual Heritage, as it could inform any Indonesian travellers to stay connected with their favorite tourism destinations, as well as to support the culture and community development in every region in Indonesia,” Rizki stated.

In addition, the future tourism trend is not merely travelling, but it is also about gaining more experiences and knowledge. Travellers will also be able to stay connected with the tourism community. These will be the assets of tourism in the future.

This virtual tour is also the part of Kemenparekraf’s program to promote Indonesian heritage tourism. “Through this Virtual Heritage, we can build dreams, aspire people, and build the desire to travel again. This is what we call as “dream now, travel tomorrow,” Rizki stated.

This event is expected to support the development of tourism communities in every region, as well as to introduce and enhance Indonesian tourism destinations.

Meanwhile, the virtual tour organizer, Julius Bramanto, said that this virtual tour could be a good choice during this pandemic. Besides, it will keep the wheels of economy turning and keep the tourism promotion running.

 “Virtual Heritage brings out the local heroes to the society to inspire the Indonesian young generations in developing Indonesian tourism,” said Julius.

This virtual tour brings up culture-and-community based tourism in the eight spots spread throughout the western and eastern Indonesia. This virtual tour is supported by Indonesian influencers, such as Kesengsem Lasem, a community featuring Batik Tiga Negeri Lasem with Didiet Maulana, Lakoat Kujawas with Rara Sekar, who features Mollo Heritage, and Rumah Cinta Wayang with J Ryan Karsten who features Wayang Potehi.

There is also Lepo Lorun, a community that features Tenun Ikat Sikka with Richard Kyle, Pulau Penyengat Heritage with Asyifa Latief, Kayaka Humba with Andien Aisyah that features The Exotism of Sumbanese Textiles, Heritage of Tionghoa with Kartika Dewi features Mayor Bangka House, and Jabu Sihol with Viky Sianipar features Experiencing Batak Culture.
