TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Betta Fish has reached its glory recently. Lots of people will hunt this fish no matter what the price is. This fish could life longer than you expected with a proper treatment. The male are known to be so aggressive toward other bettas.
However, you need to pay more attention and time (but not that much of time) to treat this fish properly. You only need to treat care more to your fish so it will live longer and give you a captivating decoration. We have you several tricks for it.
1. Housing
Keep in an appropriately sized aquarium. Bettas must be able to breathe from the surface of the water. You could have it in a small aquarium of 20 x 15 x 15 cm size. You could decor it with fake aqua plants or rocks to make it more interesting.
2. Water conditions
Bettas prefer water with little or no current. Stable water quality and parameters are critical to the health of aquatic life. You better to let the water stay for several hours in your aquarium before put your betta in it. Change the water and clean your aquarium every 3 days.
3. Diet
A well-balanced Betta diet consists of variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried bloodworms and frozen food to ensure complete nutrition. Spread the food on top of the water so your betta could see it.
Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1 to 2 minutes; overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller, unfiltered aquariums. Thaw frozen foods before feeding. Baby bettas require a smaller pellet or finely crushed flake food when feeding.
4. Habitat maintenance
Check the filter, water temperature and other equipment (if used) daily. Clean it at least once a week, twice is better. Do 50% water change for small habitats, or 10% to 25% in larger aquarium. And your Betta Fish will live longer. (*)
