Mount Semeru will be Reopened for Hikers on Early October 2020

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – It’s such a fresh air for the trekkers for Mount Semeru, East Java will be reopened on October 1 2020. The management decided to reopen this track amidst Covid-19 issue following most local hospitality industry that has been reopened earlier.

However the local government has stated some rules to be followed by the hikers. The have to follow the new safety standard that has been applied by the local government and management. They have to bring a letter to certify that they are in a good condition.

“They must to wear a mask, bring hand sanitizer on their bag, and their own medical kits with them,” The Chief of BB TNBTS, John Kenedie said on statement.

The hikers must get the ticket online not on the spot like they used to. They could order it from bookingsemeru.bromotenggersemeru.org.  During this pandemic, the management also limits the number of hikers that allowed to go to the summit to only 120 hikers in a day.

They are also allowed to stay on the mountain for not more than 2 days. The hikers must to range between 10 to 60 year old. “Each tent must to be filled with 50% of its maximum capacity and each tent has to be pitched within 2 meters from each other,” John added.  

With all these rules and cooperative way from the hikers, the management of Mount Semeru and TNBTS hope that Semeru, East Java could be a safe place to go. (*)
