Young Reog Performer Performed for the First Time after Lockdown
TIMESINDONESIA, PONOROGO – Dozens of young Reog performer managed to steal the audience’s attention with heir beautiful move and agility. The performance was held in a filed at Krisik, Pudak, Ponorogo, East Java.
As we all know, Reog is one traditional dance of Ponorogo involving dozens of dancer with huge dadak merak (huge mask with tiger and peafowl fur on top of it) as the iconic dance.
“This was one of our way to preserve the traditional dance as well introduce the local heritage to the youngster,” Erwan Santoso, The Chief of Krisik Village said.
To support this, the local government even has scheduled holding Reog performance in 11 villages of the city monthly in the same day. “They look so enthusiast waiting for the performance holds every month,” Erwan added.
All the Reog Ponorogo performances were monitored by the local government. They even attended the performance to support them directly in field. Several singers and group sometimes are invited to highlight the even. (*)
