Google Indonesia Shared Some Tricks to Keep Your Digital Tracks Secure

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Google Indonesia maintains its efforts to maintain the security of the digital tracks for data owners. There are at least 5 methods to keep your digital tracks secure while also giving benefits to data owners.

These messages were delivered by the Manager of Google Indonesia Government Relations and Public Policy, Danny Ardianto in a webinar organized by the Siberkreasi with the topic of “Digital Tracks in the Virtual World,” Monday (10/8/2020).

He mentioned there are 5 tips; first, be smart on the internet, especially when you decide to upload anything on social media.

“Don’t let our digital tracks bring negative effects to us and our family because the digital world is similar to the real world. What we do online will always have impacts,” Danny said.

He also reminded everyone not to upload any confidential data on the internet, such as ID card images, security numbers, passwords, home address, phone number, and signature.

The second tip, all users must be aware of any content online that might be dangerous, such as scams.

Third, all users should have strong security. Make sure you have strong passwords and don’t share them with anyone else.

Users are also recommended to activate the two-steps verification. Thus, if Google detects any suspicious activity such as sign-in attempts from different devices, Google will send an additional security code immediately to the account owner.

Fourth, be wise on the internet. Do not be easily provoked by negative content and spread them.

Last, Danny also recommended getting additional information from people who understand better about the information or get further information from different reference to get the truth about the information.

Thus far, Google Indonesia continuously reminds all of its users about the digital tracks security gathered from the platforms, and many tracks must be protected especially by the data owner. (*)
