TIMESINDONESIA, YOGYAKARTA – Gembira Loka Zoo Yogyakarta brings a new sight for the sore eyes with their reopening. This zoo has been closed for more than four months since the pandemic struck the country.
The zoo has implemented a strict health protocol during their reopening. They even had to send several visitors back to their home for they didn't meet the requirements needed.
“We are deeply sorry to not allow them entering the zoo. But, one of our condition is that they must to stay in the city for at least two weeks and they couldn’t meet it,” The Director of Gembira Loka Zoo KMT A.Tirtodiprojo said on Monday (3/8/2020).
Still according to him, most of those people who have to turn around are those who coming from outside of Yogyakarta city. Most of them came from Jakarta, Bogor, Madiun, Semarang, Magelang, Klaten, Kudus and several other cities in Central Java.
On the first week of their reopening, the zoo limits the number of their visitors into only 300 visitors in a day. They have planned to increase the number of visitors into 500 people in a day at the second week of their reopening if all the thing were well.
“We could only welcome around 2500 maximum visitors in a day. That’s all” he ended. During this reopening, Gembira Loka Zoo Yogyakarta will be open daily on 09.00 to 15.00 local western time. (*)
