TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Celebration or holiday becomes the most favorite time for family to gather in a room. During this time, people will serve festive snacks and foods for the beloved families.

There are several delicious festive foods in Indonesia that you need to try. Some of them might be the most popular food in the world and some of them you could only find in local area.

Rendang (West Sumatera) 

Rendang as the World's number 1 food according to CNN Traveler also becomes Indonesian most favorite dishes around the country. However, if the regular rendang was made of beef then some local community will substitute the beef to chicken, egg, or even seafood.

Ayam Gagape or Chicken Gagape (Makassar) 

Ayam gagape or Chicken Gagape also commonly known as Opor Ayam or Indonesian chicken with curry gravy. As any chicken curry this dishes taste so delicious and savory. The local community of Makasar will add some crushed fried shredded coconut on top it before its served.

Semur Betawi (Jakarta) 

Semur is a beef stew that is braised in thick sweet thick brown gravy mainly made of several local spices and herbs plus some soya sauce.

To make the taste more delicious people will add some tomato, potato, tofu or tempeh during the cooking process. It will be served with fried spring onion which make the taste even more legit.
