TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Strawberry is an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese and also contain decent amounts of folate (vitamin B9) and potassium. It's tempting bright red color makes your eyes gleams once you see it. It also has a sweet and juicy taste.
However, this fruit wouldn't last long if it didn't taken care properly. Taken from Fimela, here are several ways to make your strawberry last longer than you expected.
1. Put it under a cold temperature
To do this, you need to set your refrigerator to 0° celcius. The cold air circulated by the refrigerator will prevent your strawberry mold or fungy. You could save your strawberry for atleast 10 days on this temperature.
2. Freeze it
You could freeze your strawberry in the freezer. Once you thawed it, it will be a bit soggy. But it's normal. While its freezing, you could directly turn it into smoothie, ice cream or any delicious and attractive dessert. With this method you could save your strawberry for about 6 months.
3. Turn it into a strawberry jam
Turned your strawberry into a jam is the most effective way to keep the real taste. You may also add sugar and lemon juice during the cooking process to get the perfect texture.
4. Dry your strawberry
Dehydrating is low tech, and easy to do, but it can be time consuming if you don’t have the right equipment. Try to use dehydrator, you could get it from local online shop. You could also dry it with oven to make your strawberry last longer, but it's going to be a real mess.(*)
