TIMESINDONESIA, CIREBON – A wonderful batik with coronavirus motif patched on it became a symbol of how the local community of Cirebon fights against coronavirus.
This batik was made at a batik workshop held by the local labor offices. The workshop was held for 24 days. It was followed by 20 creative women of local area.
"They do the batik at their own house, so I believe it's safe enough," Agus Sukmanjaya, the Head of Labor Offices Cirebon said on Tuesday (31/3/2020).
One of their products attracts people's attention. It was a blue Batik with coronavirus and Mega Mendung motifs in it.
According to Sukmanjaya, it symbolizes the huge effort of how the local community of Cirebon fight against the virus.
During the workshop, there has been around 320 batik with various motifs made by the participants. The local government will help them with the product marketing and give the result back to them.
As nature has inspired lots of people in creating an art, coronavirus has given an idea for the local community of Cirebon to pour their imagination into batik. (*)
