Fam Trip Influencers: A New Method to Promote Tourism in Bondowoso

TIMESINDONESIA, BONDOWOSO – The advanced communication technology, especially the existence of social media, is optimally used by the Department of Tourism, Youth, and Sports (Disparpora) Bondowoso to promote tourism by involving the influencers.

Disparpora Bondowoso has an innovative strategy called Familiarization Trip, or also known as Fam Trip (Introduction Tour).

This strategy involves the influencers that are mostly the millennials, to explore several tourism attractions in Bumi Ki Ronggo.

The event, which took place on 6 December 2019 to 8 December 2019, was also participated by Putri Indonesia Jawa Timur 2019, Bella Putri Ekasandra.

The Head of Disparpora Bondowoso, Harry Patriantono, explained that Fam Trip Influencers is a creative strategy to promote the tourism in Bondowoso.

 “Fam Trip Influencers involved the millennials, who are able to actively give positive influence in social media to their followers. They are expected to influence and attract their followers,” he explained.

According to him, all this time, Fam Trip usually involves travel agents to promote the tourism. Now, they involve influencers that are active in Facebook, IG, Twitter, Vlog, YouTube, and the list goes on.

 “These influencers have made a great contribution to the increase in the number of visitors in Bondowoso. In fact, the visitors gain much information about the tourism in social media,” he said.

During the three-day Fam Trip, the influencers were asked to introduce the famous tourist attractions in Bondowoso that have been renovated.

“On Friday, they were promoting Wisata Arak-arak. In the evening, they were invited to have some coffee in cafes in Bondowoso,” he explained.

On Saturday, the influencers were promoting Batu So’on Solor, which is being renovated. In the afternoon, they were promoting Kawah Wurung (Wurung Crater), and exploring Kawah Ijen (Ijen Crater) in the evening.

On Monday morning, they closed the event by promoting Wisata Air Panas Blawan and Wisata Desa Tirta Agung.

This event was also a response to the policy of East Java Government, in which the influencers from East Java were also invited to Bondowoso on 14 to 15 December 2019.

Besides doing promotion, Disparpora is renovating several tourism attractions in Bondowoso.

 “Currently, we are renovating Wisata Glingseran in the village. Then, we will be focusing on renovating the main tourism attractions,” he said.

Of course, Disparpora Bondowoso will be involving more creative and innovative influencers. (*)
