Javanese Eagle and Green Peafowls Sent Back to Ngebel Forest Ponorogo
TIMESINDONESIA, PONOROGO – To preserve the nature and bring back its ecosystem The Natural Resource of Conservation Service (BKSDA) released Javanese Eagle and several Green Peafowls back to the wild in Ngebel Forest Ponorogo.
There are one male eagle, 2 peacocks and 4 peahens released at the nature conservation park of Mount Picis and Mount Sigogor of Ngebel, Ponorogo.
These species which been released on Wednesday (20/11/2019) were categorized as endangered species. "These species been rehabilitated before they were released back to the wild," the PR of BKSDA of East Java Gatut Panggah Prasetyo said.
The rehabilitation and habituation has been conducted for several months starting on July 2019 by the Indonesian Eagle Conservation Foundation together with the BKSDA.
Meanwhile, the local police officers will support the release of the endangered species by monitoring assuring their safety.
"We hope this place could be the perfect for them to live and breed for these endangered species (Javanese Eagle and Green Peafowls). And we hope that the community will work with us and not hunt them instead," The chief of Ngebel Police Department of Ponorogo, Iptu Haryono said.
