Grab Your Fishing Road and Reel it In at Telaga Wahyu Magetan

TIMESINDONESIA, MAGETAN – The local government of Magetan held fishing competition at Telaga Wahyu (Wahyu Lake) to introduce the lake more to the community on Sunday (17/11/2019).

The lake which is located in Plaosan, Magetan, East Java has been known well by the local community as a good place for fishing. This event us also intended to attract more visitor to this place.

"Its to educate the community about eco friendly way of catching fish without using some poison or electric shock that will kill all the fish even the small one. And fishing is the safest way of all," The Mayor of Magetan, Suprawoto said.

In addition, on the same day, the Mayor also released around a ton of fish to the lake. The fish was released to keep the ecosystem normal and make the lake more rich in fish.

The Head of Local Tourism Department of Magetan Venly Tomi Nicholas said that this kind of event will be held once in four month if they could. "This is to support the tourism sector and make the lake notified by lots of community faster," he said.

The fishing competition held in Telaga Wahyu (Wahyu Lake) Magetan got lots of attention from the people. Lots of people joining the competition. The local government even prepared some interesting prize for the winner such as a cow, a goat, a refrigerator and many more. (*)
