Reog Obyog Has Become an Awaited Monthly Festival in Ponorogo

TIMESINDONESIA, PONOROGO – The Reog Obyog which has become a monthly event in Ponorogo always took so much attention from the tourists. It even has become one awaited moment by the local community.

Such as what happened on the last Friday (11/10/2019) in Sukosewu Park, Sukorejo, Ponorogo. Lots of people gathered and lining up in the street to wait their favourite reog dancer passing by.

There were 18 dadhak merak (mask of a lion carrying a large peacock feather fan on top of the mask), hundreds of jathil (wooden horse) dancers and also bujang ganong.

Their performance on the festival hypnotize all the audience watching the event. They all amazed by the beauty of the dance and the harmonious gamelan music too.

"Its getting good each time. As you can see thousands of people enjoying the show so much, and I hope this Reog Obyog Ponorogo could be known worldwide," the Mayor of Ponorogo Ipong Muchlissoni said. (*)
