Some Students of Berlin Brandenburg International School Joining the Batik Workshop

TIMESINDONESIA, BERLIN – There was something different spotted on Friday morning (6/9/2019) at the Berlin Brandenburg International School (BBIS) hall. The 5th garde students were looking so seriously drawing Batik pattern on a sheet.

There are around 50 students following the event. This event which took "Batik goes to school" as their main theme was held by the Indonesian Embassy for Berlin together with the BBIS.

Suharjito, S.Sn, M.Sn. wS appointed as the instructor of the event. He ordered the students to draw something and then asked them to trace ot on a piece of sheet that has been prepared before.

With the help of the Batik video, he explained to the students on how to hold the canting (a pen like tool used to apply the wax on the sheet) and ask them to be very careful because the wax should always be hot.

"I like it because it’s very nice and very useful for my life. And I'm proud of my work,” Alexander, a students of Berlin Brandenburg International School (BBIS) after he finished his Batik.(*)
