Sogan Batik Yogyakarta Produced a New Motif

TIMESINDONESIA, YOGYAKARTA – Batik has been declared as Indonesian heritage by the UNESCO. Lots of batik enterpreneurs trying to cope with the global market demand to keep their existence. Like what the Batik Sagon Yogjakarta did.

This Batik company which is located in Tejondani, Sleman Yogjakarta trying to create a new motif to keep their existence in global market. They use the sandal nabi (prophet slipper) for it.

“There were a huge demand on this motif. I have send some to Australia and several other local areas,” Iffa Dewi, the Batik designer said on Thursday (18/7/2019).

Meanwhile, she also take an online order through several social media app. So far, she has sold around 1000 pieces of Batik sandal nabi.

“The Batik sandal nabi by Batik Sogan Yogjakarta has it's own history and meaning. It absolutely bring Indonesian local wisdom and identity," Iffa Dewi added.(*)
