Praonan, a Unique Way of Celebrating the 7th Day of Eid Al-Fitr at Pasuruan
TIMESINDONESIA, PASURUAN – Almost every moslem in Indonesia celebrate the 7th day of Eid al-Fitr. There are many ways of conducting it and thepeopke of Pasuruan chose to do it with Praonan.
Praonan is a a local tradition where the fishing boat turn up in to a commercial boat to take the visitors sailing around the sea. This tradition has been held for years and always be conducted on the 7th day of Eid al-Fitr.
Lots of local tourist will take a chance on this occasion just to taste how it feels to sail in a boat. Not only the children, people are coming from every age to the older.
"I'd like to take my grandchild to give him some experience on sailing in a fishing boat to the sea, it once in a year chance, so why not," Santoso a local tourist said.
Surely, Praonan became a fascinating experience for them in Pasuruan. They only need to pay the admission for IDR 5 K for each to get in to the boat and feel the breeze. Even if they are lucky they could find the tiger shark swimming around the boat. (*)
