TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGI – Banyuwangi keep forcing their tourism potential to attract more tourists and visitors. They even held monthly Gandrung ballet or Sendratari Gandrung performance at Jiwa Jawa Resort Banyuwangi.

This festival was aimed to conserve the traditional dance especially the Gandrung. All the artist from Kemiren starting from 7 years old children to 60 years old people all together building the music and dancing in rhythm.

"Meras Gandrung is a graduation ceremony where a dancer is considered to be ready to dance the Gandrung. And this what we try to give to the audience," Banyuwangi Mayor Abdullah Azwar Anas said on Wednesday, (22/05/2019).

The Amphitheater Taman Gandrung Terakota – Jiwa Jawa Resort Ijen, Banyuwangi was considered as the right place to do this ballet. It has a beautiful scenery with open wide rice field as the background.

"Its beyond my expectation. I thought I will just come to watch a regular show. Gandrung Ballet really amaze me, I drop my jaw the whole time the performance. Not only the dance the setting is so perfect to conduct this ballet," Albert Karijosemito a Suriname's tourist said about the Sendratari Gandrung Banyuwangi. (*)
