TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – Diet? Is it something to do with food? Uh oh, not this time. Diet Resek here means Zero Waste, so Kampung Diet Resek is a Zero Waste Village which is conducted at Sonotengah, Kebonagung, Malang.
This Kampung has committed to use zero waste and turn their waste in to something more valuable. Like turn them in to a vase, or house decoration.
"The society act together in order to reduce the waste, most of the villagers will turn the waste in to house hold product or house decorations, we also help them and educate them on how to turn the waste in to a valuable things,"
The Head of DLH Malang Budi Iswoyo said.
Most of the waste used are the plastic bag or mineral water cans. The citizens mostly turn it in to hydroponic pot or flower vase which then they used to decorate their house and other areas in their village.
Budi Iswoyo also hope that there will be lot more villages in Malang follow the steps in order to make the city become a zero waste city. (*)
