KKN Bina Desa of Unipma Students Created the Packaging for Home Industry Products

TIMESINDONESIA, MADIUN – There are so many home industries in the area of Kepel Village, Kare, Madiun, which is the place of Unipma (Universitas PGRI Madiun) students to perform the Student Study Service program (KKN). This situation has motivated them to improve their entrepreneurship skills. One of their methods to improve their skill is by doing KKN Bina Desa (Student Study Service for Village Development). In this program, they created aluminum foil packaging for the local products.

 “There are some home industries around here. Most of them still use the plain packaging. We took one sample of the packaging. Then, we made the design and turned it into a new packaging. We hope that we could improve the home industries in this village,” said Wahyu Suryadi, one of the Unipma students.

Previously, the product packaging from Kepel Village was still very plain. It initiated the Unipma students to make a more interesting packaging design so that the products could be sold in the supermarkets.

The students also helped the residents to obtain the PIRT (Home-based Business in the Food Industry) permission, which is in form of the permission from Public Health Office that proves the products have been tested and safe to be consumed. In Kepel Village, there are seven home industries that have not had the PIRT permission. The students of Unipma planned to help the residents to obtain this permission.

KKN Bina Desa is the first program but it has been successful in many aspects because it provided many useful ideas for the residents of the village. “Alhamdulillah, the program that we offer is suitable for the need of the residents so that it could be continued,” said Wahyu Suryadi.

KKN Bina Desa is done by the students of Unipma for one month, starting from 28 January 2019 to 27 February 2019. (*)
