The Annual General Meeting Held by ASEAN Humanitarian Activist in Yogyakarta

TIMESINDONESIA, YOGYAKARTA – The 3rd Annual General Meeting holds in Jogjakarta by Humanitarian Activist of Southeast Asia Humanitarian (SEAHUM) Committee. SEAHUM is a humanitarian organization network based in Southeast Asia, aiming to encourage countries to cooperate in humanitarian activities in the ASEAN region. It is held from February, 21st to 23 2019 at Inna Garuda Hotel, Malioboro No. 60 Yogyakarta.

"Yogyakarta was chosen as the place for the 3rd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGSEAHUM event because Yogyakarta has proven successful being able to rise and develop its territory quickly after the earthquake measuring 5.9 RS in 2006 which killed 6,000 people. The rapid recovery is from the infrastructure sector, economy to tourism," said Amin Sudarsono, The Executive Director of Southeast Asia Humanitarian (SEAHUM) at the Inna Garuda Hotel Yogyakarta, Wednesday (20/02/2019).

Well, the Annual General Meeting will invite humanitarian activists from Bangladesh. Furthermore, This event will be attended by more than 50 delegates, 30 delegations of which are humanitarian activists from Asean countries. Like Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Amin further gives the information that the meeting will discuss 2 important things. They are handling and preventing humanitarian crises in order to realize world security and peace. This is in accordance with the vision of SEAHUM established, namely to strengthen cooperation and human dignity.

Meanwhile, the mission of SEAHUM is to provide solutions to help victims of humanitarian disasters and poverty through coordination, capacity building and cooperation among humanitarian institutions in Southeast Asia.

Many of Indonesian organizations have already joined SEAHUM. They are from Humanitarian Institutions and zakat-based Institutions, namely Rumah Zakat, Dompet Dhuafa, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), PKPU Human Initiative, Yayasan Dana Sosial Al Falah, PAHAM (Pusat Advokasi Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia) Indonesia, Lazis Dewan Da'wah, and SNH Law Office. While from Malaysia, namely MYCare Malaysia, Pertubuan Haluan Malaysia, and Yayasan Amal Malaysia.

At this meeting,  there will be organizations that will come to the Annual General Meeting at once will be the member. They are  HARFA Foundation Banten, YBM PLN, Laznas LMI, Lazis Wahdah, LAZ Al-Azhar, Laznas BSM, STF UIN Jakarta. There are also organizations from abroad, namely Council for Humanitarian Network of Shekhul Islam Office Thailand, Ummatee Foundation Thailand, Rohingya Foundation Myanmar, Timor Leste Muslim Community, Global Ehsan Foundation Singapore, BAPA Relief Singapore, ANTAR Bangladesh.
