TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGI – The Waste Bank's existence (Bank Sampah, Indonesian) at the Pulau Merah Banyuwangi Beach will facilitate the beach to look cleaner. It was initiated by the Minister of BUMN, Rini Soemarno after her visit to the beach. She really looked at the high number of tourists visit this beach, it means that the volume of waste produced will also be higher.

Ministry of BUMN together with PT. Pegadaian (Persero) which has a CSR program and appoints the Greeneration foundation to assist waste management in communities around the coast of the Red Island. One of the Greeneration programs is Eco Ranger.

The leader of Eco Ranger, Jibril said that the problems aren't just about of garbage, but to build the existing ecosystems. Like the society, touristm authorities and tourists.

"The solution to overcome the problem of garbage is that there are 5 aspects that must be completely fulfilled, namely institutional, community participation, law, education and empowerment," he said

The Waste Bank, which was inaugurated on January 24, 2019, named The Gade Clean & Gold Waste Bank, located in Pulau Merah Beach Area, Sumberagung Village, Pesanggaran Sub-District, Banyuwangi.

In addition to the Bank Sampah program, Eco Ranger also has program of Tempat Pengelolaan Sampah Terpadu Reuse, Reduce and Recycle (TPST3R). Well, Eco ranger will guide the society of Pulau Merah Banyuwangi Beach tourism area for 3 years. After that it will be monitored only, so that the community can manage the waste independently. (*)
