Ministry of Religion RI Presents Digital-Based Quran Application

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia (Ministry of Religion RI) continues to develop digital-based Quran study services, and now the application called 'Qur'an Kemenag' is presented with various features.

Head of the Qur'anic Mushaf Study Commitee (LPMQ), Muchlis M Hanafi, said that if the Qur'an of Ministry Religion is a digital Al-Qur'an Mushaf application developed in order to fulfill digital Quran needs for the community.

The 'Qur'an Kemenag' application is based on the Indonesian Standard Al-Qur'an Mushaf which has standardized the way of writing texts, harakat, punctuation and waqaf signs. They are based on the results achieved by the Working Conference of the Qur'anic Ulama from 1974 to 1983, and becomes a guideline for printed Mushaf and published in Indonesia.

In addition, this application uses the LPMQ Misbah font which is developed according to Unicode Arabic Script and contains standard letters and diacritics that are prevalent in Arabic alphabets and numerals. This font is dedicated specifically for writing Indonesian Standard Al-Qur'an Mushaf so that there are adjustments and additions to distinctive characters.

In this application, the Al-Qur'an translation was compiled by the Ministry of Religion team. This Al-Qur'an translation was first published in 1965 and several times experienced improvements and improvements, especially aspects of language that needed to be adjusted to current conditions, consistency in the choice of words or sentences, the substance relating to the meaning and content of verses and transliteration.

This application also features of Tafsir Tahlili sourced from the Qur'an and Tafsir published of the Ministry of Religion. There is also a Brief Interpretation of Al-Qur'an Al-Karim, the results of a study of interpretations arranged concisely, shortly and meaningfully. This interpretation (Tafsir) is present as an effort to make it easier for Indonesian Muslims to understand the meaning and content of the Qur'an.

To make it easier in learning and reading the Qur'an, this application also provides reading or murattal from Sheikh Mahmud Khalil al-Hushary. "In the subsequent development of the Ministry of Religion's Quran, other LPMQ products will be included in stages, considering the many results of LPMQ studies needed by the community," explained Muchlis.
