Admiral Cheng Ho from Ming Dinasty was the one who introduced onde-onde to Indonesia around 1300 – 1500 B.C.

From its hometown, onde-onde was only filled with brown sugar paste. But, when it arrived at Indonesia, it was modified so it could be suitable for the taste of Indonesian. Green beans filling was chosen as it is the most suitable taste for Indonesian people. (*)
