Facebook's Content about the Making of Firearms Removed
TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Facebook removes content related to procedure making firearms using 3D printing. This step is carried in the moment of the heated debate on weapons access in the United States.
"Sharing instructions on how to produce weapons using 3D printing machines is not permitted based on our Community Standards. In line with our policies, we remove content like this from Facebook, "Facebook's statement quoted from the Reuters.
Facebook does not explain whether they only delete the content or in spite of the page and account that uploaded the content. However, Facebook said it would immediately distribute policy updates for the prohibited items.
Facebook is actively issuing policies or actions to overcome the spread of hoaxes, false news, hate speech and content that contains violence on their platforms. This week, they deleted the Alex Jones page, the founder of the Infowars site because it is considered to contain a lot of violence and hate speech.
Facebook's steps to clean up their platform are also executed ahead of elections in the US in November. In addition to removing the contents of firearms making, one of them deletes fake pages and accounts that allegedly lead to public opinion on political issues. (*)
