TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – France inaugurated a new law to address the addiction of smartphones in children. The law regulates the prohibition of school children using mobile phones in the school environment. This regulation is taken to avoid the impact to children caused by smartphone addiction or other gadget addiction.

France is quite worried that their young generation cannot move out from their addiction with cell phones. This is a public health problem that can be very serious.

The law was originally a promise in the campaign when Emmanuel Macron ran for president. As reported by Tabloid Pulsa, the new tighter law will begin to be implemented starting in the new school academic year this September.

Children and school age adolescents in France must turn off and store their cell phones during study hours, or leave their mobile phones at home.

The French government, through its Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, said that the government handed over the decision to each school. Then, the school will be freely to implement the rules partially (taking only important rules), or all of them.

Actually it isn't just this time France takes steps to overcome the addiction of smartphones in children.

Previously, France had banned the use of cell phones for students in the classroom, this had been implemented since 2010. However, this new law actually prohibits students carrying or using cell phones in all school activities, even during meal times or even rest periods. (*)
