A Discourse for JK as Vice President 2019, Here're the Statements of Mendagri

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tjahjo Kumolo asked all parties to wait for the result of material test regarding the term of two periods duration of president and vice president in the Constitutional Court (MK).

Perindo Party sued Article 169 letter n Number 7 Year 2017 regarding to General Election which limits the term of office of president and vice president for two periods to the Constitutional Court. The claimed was recorded in case number 60 / PUU-XVI / 2018.

"Regarding the terms of president and vice president in consecutive or not are still considered 2 times getting the same position or 2 times the inauguration in the same position, we wait for the decision of the Constitutional Court," he said on Friday (20/07/2018).

Tjahjo's opinion, which referred to two periods of two presidential and vice-presidential seats in a row without pause. "Two consecutive periods of a position should not be full 5 years (1 period)," he explained.

The debate over this provision came after the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) said it was reviewing the possibility of Jusuf Kalla returning as a vice presidential candidate by reviewing the 1945 Constitution and the Election Law.

The party led by Megawati Soekarnoputri wants Jusuf Kalla back to accompany President Joko Widodo in the 2019 presidential election. While Kalla has twice served as vice president.

"I only think that the vice president in consecutive for two periods should not be advanced again as vice president, but I think it is ok for me if there is pause, so  Pak JK (Jusuf Kalla) can still be the vice president, "said Minister of Home Affairs, Tjahjo Kumolo. (*)
