TIMESINDONESIA, MALANGUIN Malang keeps improving the value of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (the visions of all higher educations in Indonesia), which is education, research, and community service. This value is applied through a program called Seribu Buku untuk Negeri (One Thousand Books for The Nation).

This program was planned by the Rector of UIN Malang, Prof. Dr. Abdul Haris, in front of the whole lecturers some time ago. “The program is mandatory for all lecturers,” he said to TIMES Indonesia at the campus.

Previously, on 3rd July 2018, Prof Haris, along with the vice rector 1, Dr. M. Zainuddin, MA, had socialized the program to the lecturers at Aula Fakultas Humaniora.

According to Haris, One Thousand Books for The Nation program's is emphasized not only as the professionalism existence, but also for the promotion in the future.

“Of course, the books written should be in line with each lecturer’s field of study,” he said.

The books published will be the predecessors of other books. This proves that knowledge keeps developing. “The task of the lecturers is to develop the skills and knowledge of their interests,” added the rector who was born at Lamongan.

To improve the discipline in working, UIN Malang gives a deadline for the submission of the draft until the end of this year. “Perhaps the time is too short. But I only hope that all lecturers could be more encouraged to write books,” he expected.

Because the time is limited, Haris invited the lecturers to make use of the working hours to do some positive activities, such as writing a paper. He also suggested the lecturers to make use of the quiet situation at Central Library to write.

“Later on, each supervisor will supervise the progress of all lecturers regularly,” he added.

He also said that all lecturers should not be stressed with this responsibility. In fact, this thing is very common in the campus. “The work of the lecturers will be beneficial for themselves and giving a positive impacts to UIN Malang,” he added.

There are already a lot of lecturers at UIN Malang who have various fields of study. That’s why, the program of One Thousand Books for The Nation fits this campus. (*)
