The Leaders of G20 Plants Mangroves At Tahura Ngurah Rai Bali

TIMESINDONESIA, BALI – G20 Leaders and the invited guests alternately arrived at the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday (11/16/2022). The arrival of these world leaders was immediately welcomed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowi, an activity of G20 Indonesia series that is planting mangroves and witnessing the process of mangrove forest conservation in Tahura Ngurah Rai Bali.

Apart from the G20 leaders, several other guests were also seen participating in this event, along with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as the Director-General of WHO, the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.

Arriving at Tahura Ngurah Rai, President Jokowi warmly welcomed and invited the country's leaders to relax in the Pendopo or Wantilan Tahura Ngurah Rai area of Bali.

Several ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet were present at this morning's event. The ministers present were Coordinating Minister Marvest RI Luhut Pandjaitan, Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and Minister of PUPR RI Basuki Hadi Muljono who were seen taking pictures in the activity. 

The head of state of the G20 looks compact wearing a white shirt with long sleeves. Together they plant the mangroves on the site. After that, the leaders and the delegations walks together through the forest. It is their first time to see the beauty of the Tahura Ngurah Rai mangrove forest.

Regarding the G20 Indonesia Summit, Tahura Ngurah Rai's visit had retreated. Before the arrival of the G20 leaders, Indonesian President Jokowi had invited representatives of the official media of G20 countries around Tahura, because the schedule of activities was delayed 1-1.5 hours.

"The president was adressing the staff and eventually he asked it for himsled. Let's take them for walk, poor them, they still have plenty of time to wait," Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat , Bey Machmudin quote what Jokowi said earlier at Badung Regency, Bali, Wednesday (11/16/2022).

Based on live video monitoring from the G20 media center, Jokowi arrived at around 8.45 WITA. Then, he talked with official media representatives from G20 countries while waiting for the presence of G20 leaders in Tahura. 

"(we are) waiting for the state delegation, the activity has been delayed for 1-1.5 hours. So the official media of each country have been told to wait in the waiting room," Bey said.

Acquired from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat in Bali, Jokowi explained to the media regarding Tahura Bali. Meanwhile, representatives of the official media of G20 countries said they were happy because without strict protocol rules they could talk directly with Jokowi. 

"It's not inviting foreign media, but they're official media that take photos of each country's delegations," Bey explained.

Jokowi was accompanied by Bali Governor I Wayan Koster, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono. One of the interesting moments in the activity was Basuki who became a photographer.

During the mangrove planting of G20 Indonesia he appeared to hold a DSLR camera with a long lens and wear a hat in backward. Basuki seemed to mingle with the photographers capturing Jokowi's activities. (*)
