TIMESINDONESIA, BALI – President Joko Widodo invited world countries, especially G20 members, to maintain and love peace.  Jokowi said that conflicting countries can be peaceful through dialogue.

"As a democracy, Indonesia is very aware of the importance of dialogue to bring together differences and the same spirit must be shown by the G20," Jokowi said.

This was conveyed by Jokowi in the opening speech of the G20 Indonesia Summit in Nusa Dua Bali, Tuesday (11/15/2022).

"Your Majesty, if the war does not stop it will be difficult for the world to move forward. If the war does not end, it is difficult for us to carry out our responsibilities going forward," he explained.

Furthermore, Jokowi said that Indonesia has implemented the concept of democracy starting from the village level with the election of village heads, at the regional level with the election of mayors or regents, regions with governor elections to the state level with presidential elections.

Indonesia has 17 thousand islands, 1,300 ethnicities, and more than 700 languages. And democracy is seen as running smoothly bringing peace to differences.

Jokowi wants Indonesia to be a catalyst for economic recovery, especially in difficult conditions. Therefore, concrete steps are a shared responsibility.

"We're not just talking but real steps. Let's show the world that we can be wise to bear responsibility and show the spirit of leadership," he remarked.

The G20 Indonesia Summit took place over two days, Tuesday-Wednesday (15-16/11/2022) at The Apurva Kempinski, Nusa Dua Bali. Heads of state or government gathered in one forum, including US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping. (*)
