Secretary General of the World Muslim League Praises PBNU for Initiating Forum R20

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) has been initiating the G20 Forum Religion of Twenty (R20), which is also known as Forum R20. 

The Secretary General of World Muslim League, Syekh Mohammed Al-Issa expressed his praise to Nahdlatul Ulama for initiating the forum. 

“We highly appreciate Nahdlatul Ulama Organization for its great contribution in initiating Forum R20. We highly appreciate the great mission contributed by Gus Yahya,” said Syekh Mohammed Al-Issa during the press conference in Nusa Dua, Bali on Tuesday (1/11/2022). 

Syekh Al-Issa also said that he was very happy to partner with Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU). He hoped that the partnership between MWL and PBNU would last long. 

The main purpose of this forum is to give contributions and solutions towards the world’s problems, specifically to create peace and harmony among nations in the world. 

According to Syekh Al-Issa, Forum R20 is very important as it is a practical, effective, and real program. Forum R20 takes real steps ahead and real actions. It does not only contribute words, theories, and aspirations to solve the problems. 

“Through this program, Forum R20 will be launched to attain the most anticipated goal, as well as to pursue my ambitions that have become my responsibility,” Syekh Al-Issa stated. 

In the same event, Syekh Al-Issa also showed his appreciation towards the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who has made Forum R20 as the official part of Forum G20. 

Syekh Mohammed Al-Issa emphasized that Forum R20 is a real momentum and real action to create world peace. All this time, the dialogue among religions has not reached the ultimate goals and has not succeeded in establishing good relations among people and relations between people from East and West nations. 

“From Bali, there will be a real action to create peace among religions,” said Syekh Mohammed Al-Issa. 

Syekh Al-Issa also stated that Forum R20 is very important to establish good understanding on a wide variety of cultures and civilizations. Historically, religions are shaped by civilizations and cultures. 

Furthermore, Forum R20 is conducted to prevent any misunderstandings, false beliefs and any suspicious doctrines that lead to the clash among civilizations and cultures. 

“In R20, we have the concept of humanity that teaches wisdom, that establishes good relations among people and religions to create dialogues among religions, cultures and civilizations,” Syekh Al-Issa stated.

Religion Forum G20, which is also known as R20 (Religion of Twenty) takes place in Bali, from 2 - 3 November 2022. Many participants from many countries are coming today (1/11/2022). Some of them even came there three days before the D-day of the event. 

The number of participants of the G20 Forum R20 reaches up to 464 people, 170 of them coming from overseas. The leaders from many nations are coming to discuss how religions can be an effective contribution toward the development of global economy and politics. (*)
